Fast food was first introduced in the 1950s, as it was perfect for the rising population who often had not enough time for a proper meal at home or in a restaurant. Any meal with low preparation time and served in some kind of package is considered a fast food. It is not a given that fast food is unhealthy as you can always use healthy ingredients. Additionally, it formed a way for quick dine-ins, takeouts or take-away such as drive-thrus.
